v+ recording issues ESPN

hi
ive been recording the NHL hockey recently and i have missed the end of a few games. i have 10mins after scheduled end set up yet still missed over an hour on one occasion.i appreciate if something really overruns theres nothing virgin can do but is there anything i can do so it can tell a program is over running?

Probably the only things you can do for live events is to set the V+ to record the following programme as well or set up a manual recording to cover any any overrun.

I always set a manual recording for live US sports these days, adding at least an extra hour to the end time.

probably makes sense to do that i guess.just a shame the v+ box isnt as clever as my dvd hdd recorder for freeview.
