Paypal - Card Info

I have a verified personal PayPal account.

If for example I was to purchase something on Ebay and use PayPal as my payment method, would I need to link a card to my PayPal account?

Can I just pay it via my already linked bank account and not use a card at all?

Thanks

Edit: Additionally it is not a requirement of Paypal that a debit or credit card MUST be registered to your PayPal is it?

Re: Paypal - Card Info

Paypal defaults to a registered bank account anyway, so unless you tell it to use another card it doesn't really matter

Re: Paypal - Card Info

I don't have a card attached to my verified PayPal account, payments are taken by variable direct debit from my current account.

Edit: They must have changed something recently. Just tried to pay for something and was told it would take up to nine days to clear unless there was a card attached to the account.
So I've now had to associate a debit card.

Yep, any payment through an account is counted as an eCheque (i.e. they need to take it from your bank account before they clear it, hence the 9 days)

Unless you add a debit card in which case it's kind of an insurance
