HELP! Someone's got my password/email details!
Unfortunately I was stupid enough to lend a stranger details to my Steam account which in turn lead to him taking my MSN account. What can I do?!

Looks like you are going to learn a harsh lesson in trust then, as you probably have no proof that either of the accounts were yours, I expect that this will never happen to you again.

Click on the forgotten password option and they'll mail it to your alternative email addy that he doesn't have access to?

How do you pay on Steam? If the card is saved, cancel it now. Make sure if it's linked to a PayPal account that it has not been compromised, change it's password. Also change your password on anything that shares the same password.
Contact steam and msn. See if they have any policies to help. You should have some way of verification.
Why did you give out your password if you don't mind me asking?

I don't think that matters or is anyone's business - best thing the OP can do is change/cancel the accounts asap

Re: HELP! Someone's got my password/email details!
Thanks for the advice. All passwords have been changed in a frantic head rush. I've managed to retrieve my Hotmail/Messenger account but I haven't been able to do anything about my Steam account. Sad really, since I did have over £100 worth of games on there.

Re: HELP! Someone's got my password/email details!
As far as possible now go through any other account that you have that uses the hotmail, msn and anything else that is linked. Not only should you be changing passwords, but also the registered email. If he knows your hotmail / msn, there is all sorts of guessing games he could play to get in elsewhere.
Make sure too that your passwords are not related on different sites. Once somebody knows one it's all too easy to guess them elsewhere.

I wouldn't even give a friend or even a family member any login details, let alone a stranger :/

Re: HELP! Someone's got my password/email details!
I know it sounds over the top but I would inform the police, If he has had access to any other information especially your card details they could be used elsewhere, the problem isnt so much the fraud but possible illegal activies with your information which if your msn has your home address attatched to it, credit/debit card has your home address you would be first point of contact by the police for any incriminating activities. The fact that your friend has abused your trust on one level doesnt mean he hasnt on a more sinister level.
Cover your own back sod your once friend imo.
