Brave or foolhardy?

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/8190097.stm?ls

Quote:
16-year-old Natasha Hall from Berkshire describes how she returned home to find a burglar in her house, negotiated with him to leave and then made him empty out his pockets.
I'd have been out of the house and speaking into my mobile as I went...

What a brave girl!!!! Power to her for what she did to this *******.
As Rizzy says, i`d hospitalize the scrote if i caught him in my house.
If you want something, earn the money and pay for it, thats what we all have to do.

Good for her, takes a certain type of young lady to do that, I have one of those silly but brave young ladies too.

Re: Brave or foolhardy?

I had to leave the thread for a second to calm down, started to type a story about my girl and an empty home, deleted the story.

Surffice to say, this was just foolish in my opinion, a phone call to the police at a distance was enough. And belive me, they came fast, losts of them.

Why did you get so wound up bop??
you`re probably right about calling the police though. They do the best they can given the powers to them.

The thought of what could have happened, both to the girl in question and my Daughter, and for people to say well done for having a go just seems so.....................words escape me, pointless, foolhardy, dangerous, life threatening, for what .........

Wasnt quite the same.
Over the road the house was getting broken into, she heard a noise went down our drive and then up theres and shouted for them to get out of the house.
They did!
She got the car number, but it was a stolen car.
I told her off and said she should of come and told me and not gone over, but I did sort of admire her guts. She is so like me its scary!

People act impulsively when confrounted in certain situations, the 16 year old has to be commended in one way, but I bet she got a rollocking off her folks!!

Re: Brave or foolhardy?

I agree, very lucky.

If it was me I would have attempted to kick 10 types of excrement out of him regardlous of whether he was armed or not.

If said girl was my daughter however I would be rollocking her for being so damn foolhardy. But that would be my prerogative as father.

I agree with bop, this could so easily have been a tragic tale with the young girl ending up dead.
I can understand people thinking good for her, but in the grand scheme of things no possessions are worth risking your life for...get out ring the police and they'll be round mob-handed and quick if there is a intruder in your house..why risk it?

Re: Brave or foolhardy?

Not sure if it's available nationally, but atm in Bedfordshire we can text the police, and ask them not to call you back - they can text you back any questions. I've also got the cctv number; there's a camera just over the road from us at the shops where I work! It's also been very handy when I've been in town and there has been an incident.
