I suppose its because they're at least honest about the fact that you going to end up... Ahem. (Family forum and all that)

Better than some stiff in a suit telling you that every thing is good and you can have better Jam tomorrow etc. and then finding out that tomorrow meant 5 years time and meanwhile the old Jam now costs five times as much!
