changing Outlook Data file locations

Is there a way that i can put the datafiles onto its own partition and then change options for outlook to read from that location instead?

Yes. Which version of Outlook are you using?

Re: changing Outlook Data file locations

if you're talking about the PST files,
create your partition,
close the PST (data) files from within outlook by right clicking on them and selecting close then close outlook fully,
move the PST files to the partition,
reopen outlook and open the data files from their new location.

Re: changing Outlook Data file locations

Go to File ¦ Data File Managment

Select the PST file you want to move and Click Open Folder

Close Outlook

Copy the PST to wherever you want it to be.

Reopen Outlook and go back to Data File Managment

Click Add and browse to where you have copied the PST file

Once Added Select the new PST file and Click 'Set as Default'

Close and Reopen Outlook (personally I then make sure both sets of Personal Folders contain the same items)

Go back to Data File Management and remove the original PST (which you can now also delete)

You should now have the default PST file in the location you want it.

You might be able to skip the copy part if you want but I always do it that way just to make sure I don't mess things up!
