A new working Virgin line with a beep and not a tone.

I have recommended a friend. They have just advised me they have a beep on the phone before they phone out instead of the tone. I have not tried an alternative phone yet she does have an old phone a corded one with big numbers on. It is a new installation was put in on Wednesday and she kept her old number it was on talk talk. Other than the dial tone issue it works fine for incoming and outgoing calls. Any ideas

She gets a beep rather than a dial tone?

It is a consistent beep? Please give more info.

Re: A new working Virgin line with a beep and not a tone.

Seems it is a voicemail service she has requested it be canceled. I have never used a voicemail on a landline! It is an intermediate dial tone.

Yes, that means you have a new voicemail message. Dial 1571 to hear it.

It fooled me the first time I had a message, mind you that isn't very difficult.
