Parents lose battle to keep baby alive.

It's a sad as it is ironic that here we have parents trying to keep their baby alive and being told by the state that they can't whilst at the same time so many terminally ill people are effectively being deprived by that same state of the right to end their own lives at a time of their choosing.

Re: Parents lose battle to keep baby alive.

This is different to a terminally ill person isn't it? The baby was only being kept alive by a life support machine. If a terminally ill person was only being kept alive by a life support machine, then that can be turned off if the family wants it IIRC.

I think if a person who is terminally ill, but isn't being kept alive by a life support machine cannot die by they or the family saying so.

As I undertsand it this family don't want the machines turned off but their wishes have been cast aside. I know the two situations aren't identical and don't have an ideal answer but still find it ironic that the state can act in this manner.
