Natasha Richardson has died
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7949195.stm
Quote:
British actress Natasha Richardson has died from head injuries sustained in a skiing accident in Canada.
Richardson, 45, the daughter of actress Vanessa Redgrave, fell on a beginners' slope at the Mont Tremblant resort in Quebec on Monday.
The family were devastated by the death of their "beloved Natasha", her husband Liam Neeson's publicist said.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
I saw the news during the early hours.
How sad, what a freak accident.
She seemed a lovely lady in all interviews.
Tough times ahead for all the family.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
So sad news.
A friend witnessed something similar happen on a school skiing trip. One of the other teachers fell and bumped her head then died a few days later. Turns out she had a brain tumor (IIRC) and the bump merely hastened the inevitable. Obviously, I cannot know at this stage but I wouldn't be surprised if there is another contributory factor in this case too. It sounds as though her fall, and bump, we not that serious originally.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
My Dad died in January from very similar symptoms.
He slipped on some ice but didn't make any deal about it and a week later he died in bed. The post mortem showed that he had bumped his head when he fell and it caused an arachnoid haemorrhage.
One blessing was that he died in his sleep, there were no signs of any pain. He was only 77 though and very fit and healthy right up to the end.
RIP Dad and RIP Natasha - I know what her family and friends must be going through.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
A shock for all the family that one relatively minor fall can quickly cause a loss of life.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
RIP. thoughts with Liam, her boys and her extended family.
It must be a concern that a supervised lesson on a training slope can lead to a fatality.
I've never been skiing so I'm a bit dumbfounded by this. Has their been a degree of incompetence in this or is it just a freak accident.

A friend of mine got hit on the head by a crowd surfer at Reading festival once; she was insisting she was ok - walked around for a bit, but she was clearly very dazed. So much so that I managed to make her walk to the st john's ambulance bit where she was duly whisked off in an ambulance!
I can't remember what they said was wrong with her, but they let her go later that evening... Natasha Richardson's death should instill in all of us that no matter how minor you think an injury is (I once got severely told off for not going to A&E when I'd scolded myself) - always get checked over by a medical professional.
Very sad.

Re: Natasha Richardson has died
Sad news indeed.
I saw the 'breaking news' last night and with some friends on IRC was trying to think of one film or TV shows she was in. No one could think of anything. Even after visiting IMDB was none the wiser
