Hope I'm in the right section.
I want to be able to record TV programmes to my VHS/DVD recorder. When I used to install VHS VCRs to customers with cable (around 20 years ago) I used to have to tune to channel 41. It would appear this is no longer available.
Can anyone tell me how I can record digital TV to my Panasonic DMR-ES30VEB?
I have Virgin Media size M with their Vbox.

It should still be possible to tune your VCR using coaxial to the STB output. Try the autotune. That is of course assuming you have a caoxial (RF) input / output.
I am using the scart lead at the moment, but having no luck.
However, your idea of using a co-axial cable between the VCR & STB is something I should have thought of. Trouble is I'm 82 now and climbing about on my knees changing my specs to read the inputs and outputs is not a barrel of laughs (accept for by standers)
I will have a go at your suggestion tomorrow. Thanks Rob.

Good for you, Hope I'm as agile at your age.
However your Vbox should have a scart connection to AV1 or AV2
I record on my duel VHS/DVD recorder from my VBox by selecting AV1 as the source to record from. Hopefully this should work for you.

When I went to try out your suggestions unfortunately My DVD/VHS recorder had developed a fault, by the time I had diagnosed the problem and carried out the necessary repair I had had enough. Today I was unable to try the two options as a mate's TV was in trouble so had to sort that for him. Hopefully tomorrow I will try again. I did make a quick test using the r/f inputs and outputs and that worked, but for some reason the AV1 continues to display the stations 1 to 5. which the Vbox doesn't overide, that is why I wanted to make a dedicated channel for it. But I will persevere.and will update you both.
Agile? well to be honest I must not grumble I am pretty fit for my age but the knees don't like me bending down and protest, but I am thankful for the otherwise good health, especially when I see contemporaries and even younger people suffering.

With the VM V+ box one can, of course, record to the Hard Disk within the Box and then it is said that one can pass on the item to the connected VCR or DVD Recorders. So far I have not tried to do so. I have found that all is OK when the V+ Box is in the non HD mode but when one sets the VM V+ box to HD then I have found that one cannot record directly to either VCR or DVD recorders and neither can the Sender transmit AV to another room. If one tries to record any programmes from BBCi, a message informs one that it is not possible due to Regulations, is this the same with HD for it seems no message is displayed to inform. If there is a setting that I should have made ? and can someone please tell me what it is. Any help appreciated.

According to the manual of my Panasonic DVD/VHS recorder, the Sat and cable STBs should be connected to the AV2 socket, also the external link should be set to RGB/Video in the settings menu, having done that, all it requires to record Digital TV is to press the input button to select which AV you want ie AV1 AV2 AV3 and it works fine on VHS or DVD.
