I thought the new 50Mb modems were supposed to be very expensive, if the 256 is suitable for 50Mb and they are sending them out to every new customer then it sounds like they are just sub £10 cheapo's as usual.

If the cheapo ones do the job, is there a need to go for the expensive ones?

The current breed of DOCSIS 1 and 2 modems are only capable of speeds up-to around 36Mb.

Re: Are VM installing the VM 256 (AMBIT 256) modem yet

The VM 256 support a maximum of 38Mbps (or something very similar).
They are almost exactly the same as the ntl branded 255 blue ones except the 256 are VM branded and black

IF

I suppose the customers who complain will get the real thing, after TS making them jump through hoops of course.

Re: Are VM installing the VM 256 (AMBIT 256) modem yet

The current Ambit modems WILL NOT do the 50Mbps product.

Nor will the current SA modems that ex-tw areas use
