People in the leeds area

I'm in the leeds area and am having a problem connecting to a site
http://www.acorn-networks.co.uk
(i can access it via different isps and via proxy networks such as tor)

tracert shows it's a problem on the virgin network but as usual virgins support people are telling me it's my computer.
If I'm right then other people in the area will also have problems accessing the site (i'm in ls6).

If anyone can confirm this either way you would be helping me alot.

my trace rt shows

Trace route to "87.117.235.131" over a maximum of 30 hops:

1. hop: 192.168.1.1: 0 ms
2. hop: 10.231.204.1: 16 ms
3. hop: 80.0.55.149 (leed-t2cam1-b-ge916.network.virginmedia.net): 8 ms

Re: People in the leeds area

I can get to the site fine here, using OpenDNS though.

Re: People in the leeds area

Thanks for the reply
I've just switched to open dns just in case it was a dns problem... but still no dice.

From the look of it you're in Wolverhampton so your connection maybe routing differently.

Anyone in leeds?

Re: People in the leeds area

I'm in Hudds. Clicking the link loaded the page straight away. Doing tracert timed out at hop 9. No idea if this helps.

Fine from London.

Your DNS is fine I can see you are resolving it.

Can you telnet to the box on port 80? ( telnet www.acorn-networks.co.uk 80 )

Could you also try pinging the box, it seems to respond to pings but not to traceroutes.

Re: People in the leeds area

can't telnet (connection failed)

no ping (timed out) %100 loss

I can access the site no problem if I use a proxy.

So, as far as i can tell there's a problem on the network of the server is actively rejecting me... would this be correct? to try and rule out the later I've reconnected to virgin in order to renew my ip address... still no luck.

This one has me foxed...

thanks for the responses.

Re: People in the leeds area

What are the first 2 octets of your IP address dude? I'm wondering if they're in a formerly BOGON range and that website hasn't updated its' filters.

That or some routing weirdness.

As in 92 or 213.

I am in North-West Leeds, and no problems (and not using OpenDNS).

Re: People in the leeds area

Still no change.
My first 2 octets are :82.2

I'm not sure if it makes any difference but i did have intermittent connection at the beginning of the week though have been completely unable to connect for the last 2 days (to this one site).

I'm no specialist in these matters but it doesn't look to me like it's anything to do with my computer(s). I'd value an expert opinion though.
