New build: can I get it?

Hi,

In a few months I'm moving house (again) to the place on this map. The street is not in VirginMedia's database, but I was wondering if I could be able to get it since it's so near cabled streets (ALL of the surrounding streets have cable). I don't know what was here before the new houses, perhaps it was an old street that was redeveloped?

I know that VM's database isn't completely accurate as my last house (ten years old) wasn't even on there.

TIA

Your best bet is to check with the builders.

We live in a newish build (about 8 years old now) which Telewest had the cabling installed by the developers during the build (one of the few digital TW connections in the area). We were looking at some houses being built just around the corner but according to the builders VM rejected their offer to cable up the development as the houses were bulit.

The has been no fresh laying of cable by Virgin for around 7 years so your best bet will be with one of the ADSL providers in your area like possibly BE*

https://www.bethere.co.uk/

or check how far you are from the nearest BT exchange with http://www.samknows.com/broadband/

Nor really, chances are you'll talk to someone in sales who will tell you what you want to hear.

Your best bet is to walk down the street and take a look at the metal man hole covers and if any say CATV or NTL, then you got cable.

cheers

Re: New build: can I get it?

It's 3km as the crow flies from the telephone exchange (oddly, it's not connected to the nearest exchange), which means I've got a really slow connection to look forward to. The house struggles with 2Mb at the moment, I don't think ADSL2+ would help much at that distance. Be isn't an option as they have no LLU operations in our area
