Re: The wrong type of bin...........
there can be wrong types of bins, but as long as it has wheels on and can be picked up (safely) by the bin truck then they should get collected imo. where the bin came from is nobodies business

Correct - and this one was apparently fine except that it hadn't been purchased from the LA for a rip off price.

Re: The wrong type of bin...........
I could understand it for a refuse bin - but an extra recycling bin would surely help the Council achieve their targets for diverting waste from landfill ????

OMG, I can't believe they are not collecting it because its the wrong bin, what happened when rubbish used to be in bin bags, if it wasn't a council bin bag did they not collect it? Totally mad I tell you.

Re: The wrong type of bin...........
We never got delivered a red (plastics) Recycling bin, they said that one would be sent to us, this never happened. They said we could leave our plastics in a bag with the other recycling but it was never collected. Fortunately the next door neighbours moved out leaving theirs outside so it has gone for a bit of a wander :-)

Why is it that we, the public, are accepting our ever increasing criminalisation for such pathetic issues. Fines for this, fines for that. What ever happened to the government being for the people and doing what things and providing services that were in the interests of the people

Re: The wrong type of bin...........
Actually the 'one word' I was thinking of started with a 'T' and ended with a 'TS' but it wasn't targets.

Re: The wrong type of bin...........
My answer? Shove the lot all over the road. Someone will soon clean it up. Same thing happened around my area (although that are is very "dirty" to begin with). Believe me, they'll soon clean it up because it makes them look bad if the road is messy. Sure they might fine you, but they have to catch you in the process first.

Re: The wrong type of bin...........
Our council (Croydon) have never emptied non-council supplied bins! Even though the lids frequently break off them because they're not very robust!

How about easy targets. Why bother about crime and the locals getting mugged by people as well as the government when you can excert some authority over their wheelie bins.
The tagged chavs can go free but if the bin`s not right, watch out.!!!!!!

I recently reported one of my bins missing after it vanished on collection day, and got a letter from the council with prices for a new one, but it clearly says that I don't have to buy it from them, as long as it is of the correct size and type.
