Re: Rock band
Yes most definately. Although I have read that the Guitar Hero III guitars are better to use with the game (according to the OXM) and the drums can be annoying to other people in the room because of the sound. I'm just hoping that we will get some killer downloadable tracks from xbox live that includes AC/DC - not seen any of their music on these games (apart from the unofficial) and some Led Zeppelin wouldn't go a miss.

*EDIT* We are getting the full hit Rock Band pack including Microphone, drums, guitar so will post back with a report.

Re: Rock band
The drums are very annoying if you're not the one playing - and from another room they sound like someone hitting a plastic box over and over and over....... get my point. As said elsewhere the Guitar hero 3 guitar is better than the 'impressive looking' rock band guitar. And no one wants to be the singer...
Good points are the great sound tracks and when the crowd starts to sing along with you its brilliant stuff.
I'd give the game so far...a good 8 out of 10 (and once more dowloadable songs are out and more plentiful for the type of music you like a good overal 9 out 10)

My mates bringing his drums over later, was talking to him on the mic earlier and all i could hear was him hitting the drums.
I'm using the GHII guitar at the mo and loving it, only played for about an hour so far though.
Tried to download the Oasis pack but seems to be a problem with LIVE...for me anyway.

The Oasis pack is a good one to have. You'll have a good laugh with your mate on drums, you on guitar. The game really comes into itself when you've got 'The Rock Band' together, we had a right laugh trying to do Iron Maiden's Run To the Hills. Hope the neighbours don't complain too much...

Just found this on You Tube :- It shows what you need to do on drums expert with Iron Maiden's Run To The Hills http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c7Bk8kb7Pow

The game is EA & MTV but the game engine is Harmonix....the people who did the engine for GH. Rock Band is much better than GH.
Drums are around £70.

It looks pretty much exactly the same by the videos i've seen and what i've heard apart from the fact there are other instruments that seem to cost a lot of money. Don't think i'll get it if it's going to cost £70 for drums and then having to buy the actual game. I think i'll just wait for the Aerosmith Guitar Hero game that comes out next month.

They can be but unlike the 'guitar' this is as close you will get to actually playing a 'REAL' instrument. Lots of practice needed to get really good with them.
I think Rock Band really is a multiplayer game and Guitar Hero a single player 'experience'.

You could always just get the Rock Band game and use your Guitar Hero guitar. It'd be a shame to miss out on this (although it does come into itself as a multiplayer game) as there will be plenty of dowloadable material.

Re: Rock band
I bought the game and already taken it back
I have GH2 and GH3 but don't have the guitar controller. I am happy using the standard controller and I don't feel as big a prat by using it
So I got Rock Band game thinking I would be able to do the same...nope...I can't use a standard controller to play it!
So here's me thinking, what a con. Not only do I have to fork out £40 (around) for the game but I cannot play it at all unless I buy one of the controllers (guitar/drums) for an extra £50/£60. Wasn't very happy when I got home and sat down to give it a go.
What were EA thinking???

Re: Rock band
The rock band guitar feels like a cheap bit of shoddily made tat compared to the GH2 & GH3 controllers. I felt like the strumming bar was going to snap quite a few times, and the fret buttons aren't well placed.
We ended shoving it in a corner and using 2 wireless Gibsons
Apart from that, top game.
