Re: Crewe & Nantwich - yet more bad news for Brown?
Just demonstrates how completely out of touch New Labour is.
Mind you when you have MPs on 55 grand ( or more) plus expenses and a gold plated pension, how can they really appreciate the need of pensioners and the poor living on 10 grand (or less) in a climate of rising prices, rising crime etc?
The sooner MPs start representing the people and not themselves and their party the better we will all be.

Re: Crewe & Nantwich - yet more bad news for Brown?
Yes, I heard a senior government representative the other day claiming that he felt the pressure too as he filled up his car...
So the generous travel concessions and mileage allowances they pay themselves don't cushion the blow at all then ?
The only thing which staggers me more than the cynicism and arrogance of these people is that some of the population still buy it!

Most don't buy it anymore and while i am not ready to jump into enuff's apathy corner i nd many others are still searching for the alternative. Getting rid of this corrupt collection of incompetents led by a power mad moron will be a damn good start.

No, no, you are looking at it the wrong way round!
They get 40p (or whatever) per mile. A year ago they were getting to keep 25p of that (after paying for fuel), now they only get to keep 20p of it. So they have had a 20% pay cut!

Re: Crewe & Nantwich - yet more bad news for Brown?
Im not that political but I wouldnt have voted tory in the past - Now more than likely.
I think its much a case of lets see if they can do any better as their actual politics.
I think labour could pull it back if they slashed petrol prices (tax) though!!

One of them doesn't have Gordon Brown in it. Pretty hoofing big difference, so far as I can see.

It doesn't count as far as I'm concerned, not when the other has Cameron and variants of the same policies.

Re: Crewe & Nantwich - yet more bad news for Brown?
Labour just doesn't learn, they always think that all problems will go away if they throw (our) money at it.........money on NHS, education, law & order...........deeper and deeper into debt with little if any improvement. In the meantime they cushion themselves with generous expense allowances and inflation proof pension, again at our expense.
Prudence Brown could see this happening years ago, that's why he wanted Tony out of the way sooner, then he could blame his appointed Chancellor for the mess......sorry, Prudence, you've been found out.
Can't see why the MPs didn't latch on to the 10p demise 12 months earlier, it was covered in the press........could it have had something to do with local elections??
Don't have much faith in any politicians, they all look after No 1. The sooner there pay and pensions are brought into line with the electorate, the better.

Re: Crewe & Nantwich - yet more bad news for Brown?
I watched GB on the tele today and i have never seen any politician so clumsy, incompetent and inept when dealing with the media this guy couldn't stop repeating himself he had one thing to say and just kept repeating it no matter what. He is clearly not able to think on his feet which i would have thought would be a rather important ability when your the PM of a country and can only deal with things on his terms not on the reality of whatever terms appear.
I can handle a man being dour and boring if he is doing a good job i can't handle it when the person is out of their depth and knows it but won't move aside because of all the plotting and scheming they did to get there. He is a man that had a job that made him look very good not because he overly was but because economical cobnditions were so benign and friendly globally and now the **** has hit the fan he is desperately wriggling his feet and flapping his arms hoping that those conditions return before he is completely exposed and seen for what he is which is a man of extreme limitation currently in a position he is completely inadequate for.
Oh yeah the one thing yep you've guessed it folks it's that old GB classic "we have to listen to the people" who have had three chances to vote on you gordon and have voted against you everytime you listening yet.
