Humans may have faced extinction
I'm amazed that they can say this with certainty.

Re: Humans may have faced extinction
They have revised the figures then, last time I saw something on this there were just 10 000 left at one point

Re: Humans may have faced extinction
Not quite as important as us, but its believed cheetahs very almost went extinct during the last ice age, as they show symptoms of excessive in-breeding.

Re: Humans may have faced extinction
...and humans were most likely not responsible for the global warming event that caused the drought and near extinction, as they didn't have cars (or at least nobody has, yet, uncovered evidence they did).
Makes you wonder if all the money and time we're spending on controlling global warming isn't a complete political con, as global warming just happens anyway, whatever we do, due to other effects such as:
- The earth wobbling on its axis
- The passage of the solar system through the galaxy
- Solar flares
- cosmic rays
- Planetary alignment
- The Greek gods larking about
- combination of any or all of the above occurring at the same time

Re: Humans may have faced extinction
That's what science is for
2ndly fossil fuels are in finite supply and alternatives are proving very problematic, so its just a good idea to save them.
