vista 32/64bit

i am just wondering if i am right in thinking, that as i have a legit copy of vista home premium 32bit could, i use my cd-key for 32bit on the 64bit vista home premium?

IIRC, the key is just for the version and not the platform.

I read somewhere that you can use the same key, but only if it came from a retail X32 version, OEM from 32bit might not work on 64bit, so they say.
