Free sat HD channels?
Apart from BBC HD does anyone have and ideas which fta hd channels are coming to sat this year?.
I know Channel 4's HD channel is there but it's currently scrambled and unavailable to me.

Never realised Luxe TV was also on Astra 2!. Only the 2 for the time being then thats clear.
I guess Channel 4 HD will go clear later in the year in all probability?.

Re: Free sat HD channels?
So probably 5 hd channels in total by the summer assuming all 4 major networks (BBC, ITV, Channel 4 & Five do a hd channel, which seems likely.
Sky being sky will likely never to a totally free hd channel I personally feel., Well prehaps they will do sky news in hd then lol.

Re: Free sat HD channels?
I do agree with that point of cause. More so if Virgin 1 are crafty and change half there programs to HD. I mean Torchwood would be good if V1 can get re-screen rights as thats recorded in hi-def as are a number of BBC programs.
I dont quite know why the BBC's flagship show Doctor Who is yet to be recorded in hi-def though?.
And as we know virgin media does seem to have a half decent deal with the BBC when it comes to allowing there programs to be re-screened by virgin media in 1 way or another.
What I mean is that I've been into the sat scene for years and I feel sky could have a bit of a problem as they dont really allow any of there channels on sat go un-encrypted.
I think sky are possably the only main broadcaster that dont have a totally free channel now or planned to support free-sat hd!.

Its a bit strong to call Luxe TV HD! Its 3/4 resolution and a fixed lowisg bitrate.
C4 HD is encoded and multiplexed by Sky.

Only until their contract with Sky runs out, then it's supposed to go free to air on freesat

Re: Free sat HD channels?
Have to go with both above posts. A lot of the european Luxe TV content is nothing like HD. I have a motorised HD sat setup and viewed that channel for a few months now. And a good chunk is certainly not HD.
I would say the same about the BBC HD channel. As a number of such called "HD content" sure seems nothing like HD. Sure the flagship demo shows and Tourchwood is of cause. It's more like half the BBC's HD content just dont look HD half of the time!.

As our fill-in transmitter will only carry the bare minimum of Freeview channels (not even channel 5 according to the current info from the BBC), and won't carry anything digital at all before switchover in 2010, I'm itching for a proper, permanent, final solution that will get me back to where I was with my TV 10 years ago - able to switch between channels on the TV itself, without having any kind of STB, whether that be cable, Sky (as I have now) or Freeview.
