Television Switching On during the night

I have recently got VM television installed in the bedroom. The installation, which I did myself, went OK. The only problem I have is that the TV switches itself on during the early hours of the morning. The VM box stays off.

Any suggestions?
Paul

Re: Television Switching On during the night

I had a TV with built-in Freeview that switched itself on during the night to check for updates to the software, it could be that? - Did it even with no aerial attached.

Sounds like that Two Ronnies Sketch where the TV's took over the world.
Very Creepy.

The box may be switching on to get program updates etc, the tv is detecting that and automatically switiching on as a result.

Does the TV have SCART/HDMI autodetect functionality. Is it on or off?

Re: Television Switching On during the night

Thanks for the replies.

It is quite an old TV but does have a scart connection. I am pretty sure that it does not have a feature to turn the ON/OFF facility ON/OFF.

It may just come down to switching the TV off overnight. The TV on/off switch being in a useful round the back position and thus it will be easier to to turn off off both the box and TV and the wall socket.

It is quite spooky the TV coming on with the black screen and you get that "Black light" effect from the TV. Wasn't a problem for me at first as I was working night shifts but the wife gave me some ear ache about it.

Thanks
Paul
