Patrick Swayze
I have just read on DS, that Dirty Dancing star Patrick Swayze, is dying of cancer, and has only got five weeks to live, does anyone know anything to confirm this, as it would be a tragedy if it was true.

re: R.I.P Patrick Swayze has died
Contradictory reports - the initial one came from the National Enquirer.
Here is what Hollywood.com has to say Link
" Swayze's spokesperson has confirmed the actor was "home and happy" after the operation but has refused to comment on the nature of his illness.
And an insider on the set of his unnamed new film tells celebrity blogger Perez Hilton that Swayze appears to be in good health, stating, "Patrick has been at rehearsals for a new cheerleading movie at a Century City studio frequently... and he definitely does not look like he has five more weeks of life left…
"I'm not sure of his medical condition, but, if he is gravely ill, he is hiding it very well." "

I certainly would not take as gospel anything that comes from the NE . Remember the london bus on the moon? or the Hitler was alive with picture and the fossilized battery to name but a few

Supposedly pancreatic, which never has a sunny prognosis.

The story is in the Daily Mirror this morning. Tragic if true.

I lost a good freind to pancreatic cancer exactly a year ago, he'd only been diagnosed about 8 months. I did a lot if research at the time of his diagnosis and was very upset by the results. For every 50 people that are diagnosed with it there will ony be an average of one person surviving after 5 years, it's a horrible cancer to be diagnosed with.

re: R.I.P Patrick Swayze has died
One point: I know from experience (my mother died of Pancreatic Cancer) that doctors do NOT generally give precise estimates of life span (they may say you have 6 months to a year, but won't tie it down to a number of weeks)
Apparently, it's for two reasons: One, if people are told when they are going to die, they will probably find a way to do it on time. Two, there are too many variables that cannot be accurately predicted.
While I don't doubt that Patrick has Pancreatic Cancer (and I feel sorry for him, his family and friends), I doubt that the doctors would have given an estimate.

Quite, On the Tv this morning they were saying that the doctors were considerably more optomistic than the timescale that the media have laid out.
