Need Help With Router Disconnection

Hi,

I have a Belkin G+ MIMO Wireless Router and its directly plugged in via Ethernet to my PC which works perfect.

But the problem is with the wireless, on my laptop I can see the signal and its full and it connects perfect, but it stays connected for maybe a minute or two then disconnects and reconnects straight away. So every now and again you see the bubble at the bottom saying about its now currently connected as if its just reconnected.

I have got onto Belkin support about it and they just said to try all the SSID Channels but I have and its still not helping.

Does anyone have any idea what I can do to fix this as it could just be a setting thats blocking it perfectly.

Thanks,

Rowan

Re: Need Help With Router Disconnection

It would suggest that either there is some sort of fault in the laptop or router's setup, or there is a source of interference.

I assume it occurs even with the router repositioned, or if the laptop is in a different room? You've tried different wireless channels? Is security encryption (WEP) on?

Re: Need Help With Router Disconnection

Yeh I have tryed the channels which dont seem to have any effect.

The router has been placed high above the computer so its not cluttered with anything.

The laptop could be right next to it but it just disconnects for like half a second at times then reconnects and you know cause sometimes it will come up "Page Cannot Be Displayed" then it will pop up at the bottom that its Connected again, then you hit Try again and the page will load.

Yes the weird thing is I have a password on the wireless but when it says its connected at the bottom it says (unsecured).

Re: Need Help With Router Disconnection

Is there an update for the router's firmware? Have you got the latest drivers for your laptop wireless, motherboard and even the BIOS? All might fix some hidden little glitch.

Re: Need Help With Router Disconnection

Check you are connecting to your own SSID, not one of your neighbours with the same router. Change your SSID to one that is unique.
