Woolworths withdraws inappropriately named bed..
Woolworths has pulled a bed from their range. The bed was a Child's bed and had the slightly inappropriate name of Lolita..
Bearing in mind the book, and both films of that name, methinks the name sends entirely the wrong message..

El Reg's readers nail it pretty well as usual, particularly Greg and the first comment.

Yes. I liked this one, too:

I saw a "Snow White" style bed in my local furniture shed. I went straight to the manager and demanded it be removed. I mean imagine putting innocent children to sleep in a bed themed around a slut who's idea of a good time is to shack up with 7 men she's never met before...

Now if you'll excuse me I have to attend to my 10 year old son who can't work out how to use the rocket launcher in Call of Duty 4.

Is that the same Fred West that thinks there is 24ft in a yard?

PC madness. For goodness sake, who cares what its called. Most people buy stuff cause it looks nice and meets their needs.

While you do have a completely valid point, calling a kids bed "Lolita" is a bit too much... especially given the meaning of the word.
Surely though the person who named the bed in the first place must've known what it meant... and for that reason, its just wrong.

Re: Woolworths withdraws inappropriately named bed..
I heard the woman from the raising kids site on the Jeremy Vine show this morning - she got slated by some bloke who was also being interviewed on the same subject....
The interview is here: http://www.raisingkids.co.uk/todaysn..._310108_01.asp
I've not listened to the stream so the guy may have been edited out to put her in a better light for her site...
BTW, what's wrong with it, it's a just a female name - bloody censorship if you ask me...and I have seen the Kubrick film.

Who names their bed ? Is yours called Geoff......or Bobby.......or Claire. No. Exactly. It doesn't mean anything.
In fact, it actually means this...........
