A DSL router won't work as router on cable. However, if you connect the cable modem into one LAN port and a PC into another, it will probably work as a simple hub, allowing ONE (only) PC to connect.

As John says it's just functioning as a simple HUB and not as a router. The only way of getting more than one PC to connect to cable broadband is via either a proper ethernet router, using 2 nics and enabling ICS (internet connection sharing) or set up a server running a router program such as Wingate/Winroute/etc.....

Unless you can reprogram it to route form a Lan port... but not likely.
