1.Does BT charge per minute/second for calls to 0844 numbers?
2.Does BT apply a minimum call charge ie 5p for calls to 0844 numbers?
3.Can I put an 0844 number as a friends and family number/best friend?

4.Does NTL charge per minute/second for calls to 0844 numbers?
5.Does NTL apply a minimum call charge ie 5p for calls to 0844 numbers?
6.Do NTL charge the same rates as BT for calls to 0844 numbers?
I have rung NTL and they say call the operator of the service you're calling. They say they dont know the rates?

NTL show the call charges for some 0844 numbers in their tariff guide but not for the 0844 number I'm trying to call.

http://bt.com/Pricing/pis_info.jsp?P...ers&c_index=08

I am aware of the above pages but can't find the answer to my questions on them.

Does anyone know any providers which charge less than 1p a minute for UK landline calls 24/7??

Re: 0844

Hi,
I can confirm that BT do charge by the second for calls to 0844 numbers.
Depending on the 0844 number you will be charged 1p, 2p, 3p, 4p or 5p per minute. Also, depending on your tariff you may be charged a set up fee for the call.

I dont believe that you can add an 0844 number to friends and family.

NTL's pricing scheme should be the same as BT (depending on the 0844 number)

There are several operators charging less than 1p per minute now - just type cheap calls into google and you should be offerd lots of choice.

hope this helps
James

Re: 0844

I have attached the latest BT and VM charges for non-geographic calls.
BT have a standing charge of 6p & VM have a standing charge of 7p (for most calls).

Only a few 0844 numbers can be added to friends & family, the vast majority cannot.

Also, try this website:-
http://www.magsys.co.uk/telecom/codelook.asp
It will tell you the BT tarrif.
