Thats only 2% into the file, it is most likely Firefox caching the download and having it seem like a huge speed when it starts saving it. I often see 3MB/s when I start downloads with firefox which then drop to the proper speed of 1.2MB/s or less which is all my broadband is capable of.

Might be a noobish question, but how does ffox cache the file download so it reports it as that fast?

Re: Check my 100mbit line

It starts downloading when you're presented with the choice of save file or open file, but the counter on the save file only starts from when you clicked that button. If you've left it downloading 5meg of a 10meg file, when you eventually click Save FF will think it's downloaded all of that in the first second.
