Is using Vista Up-grade a one way street?

As the title suggest's, I've upgraded from XP Home to Vista (upgrade disc) Home Premium. The question is, if I wanted to restore the PC back to factory settings (which would be XP) using the discs provided with the PC when purchased, can I then use the upgrade disc for Vista.

Sure thing, just revert the PC with your restore disk or partition, then you can install Vista again with the upgrade disk if you wish.

Microsoft removed the Uninstall Tool that they had in 98/ME/2K -> XP

Restore disks work, in fact they encourage you to make them during the upgrade process, the restore partition however becomes useless.
That's what the Acer upgrade pack tells you anyway. :/

The problem I see is when you activated your upgrade it may well have killed off your serial key for xp.You would have thought so anyway.

Once you upgrade your XP license is null and void, yes.

But I do not believe there is any check in Activation to stop you.

Microsoft changed their policy due to demand, phone MS and they will re-activate XP for you.
