Need some advice have laptop fujitsu dual core intel i now find the dvd drive is missing in vista, this is what i have done system restore no good also been in bios and it is there it spins up but i cant access it as there is no icon in vista to run it been in device manager and only the hard disk is there so cant even update drivers. I have also noticed all recent updates have failed cant install them either cant do a factory restore should i take it back to shop still under 12 months old.

Give Fujitsu Support a call, though I would back all your data up in case they replace it (they might charge to copy our documents). If you zip it up, you might be able to drop it on VM webspace or a file hosting site.
This reminds me of something that use to happen back when I was using my old Abit KT7A-RAID mobo [VIA KT266A chipset, IIRC]. I can't remember how I stumbled on to the solution, but I found that uninstalling the IDE drivers, then reinstalling them sorted it every time.
