I have just upgraded from a 4th Generation 40GB Ipod model M9268B to the new Ipod classic.
I already have a number of accessories such as a incar charger / dock / mains charger from my old model and wondered if they are ok to use of my new ipod classic ???
(Pitty I can't use the FM tramstitter and charge at the same time as both use the input at the bottom !)
Maybe, They changed something that means that add-ons need some sort of chip in order to work. Even games do not work on the new ipod as they changed the underlining OS. You might get lucky and some components still work but by means all of them will. Although since yours in charging they would well do.
That will royal irritate me that a genuine apple iPod dock won't work with a 5g as they did not put some chip they invented in the future to generate a new royalty stream into it.

A 5G one may work, I am not sure. Typically it's devices that connect to the top that require the chip. Not anything relating to data transfer and power such as dock connectors.
