Netgear WGT624 Insteallation Problems :(

Hi their,

I have just bought this today, and when i follow the instructions to connect eveything it works ok, until it tell me to input my ip address.
I spent ages trying to find it then when i did, it told me to log in and i didnt have the info to log in, after bout an hour i found out what i needed to log in, and its jsut the plain simple :admin, password, all good! Wrong?

when i set my connection up again and after i connected my modem, my computer and router, when it says restarting your network, it says its not connected, and shows me a diagram how to do it and its all perfect!!

i have checked over and over again and i cannot go past this stage :'(

please help!

the reason for the router is to connect my xbox 360 elite, computer, and 1 laptop to this router.

Sounds like the setup wizard which came with your router may be incorrectly detecting your type of internet connection. You shouldn't have to enter an IP address if you have a normal VM cable connection or adsl connection for that matter (unless you're on Demon).

Go to the wan configuration pages of your router and check that you have set it to pick up an IP address automatically. Save the changes, restart the router and reboot your PC.
Might also be an idea to reboot your cable modem while the router is powered down.

Ahh right you wanted the IP address/url to connect to configure it?

Your router is probably broadcasting SSID's which means that it's advertising it's presence over the air.

Make sure you enable encryption, preferrably WPA2 if available on your wireless connection or if you're not using it then switch the wireless function off.
