Question Signal strength
I will explain the best I can....

I have recently purchased a 50"..LG Plasma DTV..Model 50PC55.

I am getting pic break-up on CH itv1/ch4/itv2..and several other channels which appear to come on the same "wavelength" from Rowridge.

When I go to diagnostis in the menu it reports.."signal to strong"...95/100%... the signal quality is good.

I do not have the same problem with either of the 2 freeview boxes I have.

Could this be the internal freeview box...faulty..???

The set is less than a week old, so I could get it changed...

Any ideas/suggestions, please....

I've just got back from my mother-in-laws, and she has the same picture breakup on those channels. Maybe its something at their end.

I imagine Peterborough is on a different transmitter...??

Maybe its getting to much signal... Got an attenuator to hand to try?

Or a long reel of cable that would probably have a similar effect...

No attenuator...and would not know what to do with it,

I feed 2 TVs from an amplifier, if I bypass the amp the signal to my Humax digi recorder/tuner is no good....

Why does the problem affect the tuner in the tv, and not my set top boxes....

Why does the problem affect the tuner in the tv, and not my set top boxes....
It's possible that you're picking up some sort of RF or electrical interference. Do you have anything near your tv in the way of wireless devices or do you keep your mobile phone on a table near your tv by any chance?

Amplifiers downstream of the feeder cable from the TV aerial are of limited use and if the signal is bad to start with you'll just be amplifying unwanted mush. I'd be inclined to have your TV aerial looked at and if necessary have it replaced with a higher gain one with new cable and connectors if the existing ones have degraded over time.

Just a matter of thought, does the TV have an internal signal amplifier? if so try turning it off as your problem seems to be too much signal strength
