Suck it and see?

I know I'm not a victim of traffic shaping but when the kids come home from school (not mine) and at weekends my 20 M service is less than 2M.
Yes I know this has been discussed before. My question is, do VM intend to improve the problem of UBR congestion (I'm in Romford BTW) or is this it forever.
I don't want to be a moaner but when the introductory discount to £25 is over, £37 will be far too much for such slow speeds.
Can you just have the VM package without the phone , save the £11 and go BT / BE. Or am I stuck with it?

Improving the UBR congestion problem will cost them money, so it's unlikely to happen soon.

I'm curious as to why you need 20 meg. I find 2 meg is absolutely fine for everything except the occasional "massive download".

I remember how good 512 k was when I first got my modem. Connection was very unstable as it was new tech but when it worked it was awesome and compared to dial up well wow.We are simply spoilt nowadays

It shouldn't matter what he needs it for.....he's paying for 20 meg and would like it to be a lot closer to that figure than 2 meg.

Not wanting to sound nasty here, but does that solve their issue?
If they downgrade to 2mb where do they go when the speed is crawling there?

This " upto " mullarky cheeses me off no end.
How do they get away with it?
You would not get a market trader advertising apples for 70p for upto 2kgs would you? then having the cheek to snatch your 70p after throwing you one apple !

It seems that some people think that if you pay for that sort of speed then you must be a massive downloader, and with that comes the " illegal download " thought.
So if you're having problems with the speed it is seen as fair game by vm to charge what they charge for drastically reduced speeds, even if all you are downloading is barry manilow at the apollo
