Keep getting phone calls, no idea what they are about.

Hi all. I was wondering if someone inside Virgin can tell me whats going on within my account. I keep getting telephone calls from someone asking for me and saying they want a word leaving no number to return. Its happened today and previously. They sounded scottish and knew I had the broadband service. Could someone please tell me what these calls could be about? Thanks

Re: Keep getting phone calls, no idea what they are about.

I'm sure if it was VM (common courtesy dictates) they would have said so. So really youv'e got two options.

Ring 1471 - if yes (and you don't recognise the number) then don't waste the price of a phone call to find out - let them do the chasing.

If whoever is desperate to contact you, then wait for them to get in contact again - let them do the chasing.

If whoever is trying to get in contact hasn't got the courtesy to leave a proper message then treat them in the same manner.

Si thee

It could also be a cold call, trying to get you to switch broadband supplier - let them chase you.

It was virgin media, or so they claim. Did a 14713 and was taken to MGT marketing? Why would Virgin be trying to sell me a service I already have?

best thing to do is change your number it's free if you know how alternatively after the number has changed do not give it to nobody for matketing always read the little box on the bottem of a contract some state tick some leave unticked depends if you want lots of calls or not thats down to you if you don't and want the same number try tps it's worked ok for a while for me but not as good as a number change don't forget these people who do not know you keep passing your number around;.

Are you registered with the Telephone Preference Scheme ? It keeps out unwanted calls and is FREE. I found it on the OFTEL site.

Good idea.

We were getting marketing calls, we registered with these and the calls have amost dispeared, we get the odd one but tell them we are registered with TPS and to stop calling us or we will report them.

but if you have given VM permission to give your number to third parties to act on their behalf, or by a similar box not refused them permission to do so, being on TPS doesn't stop them...

It doesn't "keep out unwanted calls" it stops unsolicited sales calls from companies you have no dealings with, there's a significant difference.

Plus TPS is actually funded by the marketing companies themselves - well, the DMA.
