BT Sucks!!
Anyone know when the Skewen exchange will be updated? I'm only getting 1mb, which I'm not happy with considering BT actually promised me I'll be getting 8mb!

Re: BT Sucks!!
Looking here suggests BT have no immediate plans to upgrade it, in fact according to the data, there isn't a problem. Now, whether you believe the data available, is a different story.

Re: BT Sucks!!
Hehe, when I called them, they said because of the distance from the exchange I will only get 1mb, and when I asked out of curiousity if it was possible to move to another exchange they said no...but they will be upgrading.
Now I cannot see any upgrade changing the speed of mine due to the distance...so any ideas what I can do?

Right, I've just checked the link you gave me and there's a rollout of 8mb apparently on the 31st March, I shall have to phone BT >AGAIN< for some straight answers. Hehe. Thanks for that!

That link is nothing to do with the 8Mbit ADSL Max rollout, which was done 31st March last year
Options... can you get your line stats from your router or whatever?
Upgrades... there are none scheduled at the moment that will help if your line really can't cope with more than 1Mbit, however it probably can, which is why the line stats would be useful.

Re: BT Sucks!!
21Cn upgrades were always going to take years to do, ours is slated for 2011 too. To the OP, what is your distance from exchange roughly? (Use the SamKnows link in the post by Stu)
Distance, line condition, exchange equipment condition and even the condition and quality of the equipment you attach to the line can affect speeds.

Re: BT Sucks!!
HAH the amount of problems I'm getting with BT at the moment...it's enough to tip me over the edge...
I am meant to be getting 2mb speeds, but since having my Home Hub installed all I'm getting is 0.5mb, which drops to the slowest speed of 0.1mb. This is after the 15 days settling time. My Home Hub is telling me it can give 2,016kbps so why is this happening? I've called BT numerously and all they're saying is 'oh, we'll get our engineers to have a look at it remotely and give you a call back within 24 to 48 hours'. I'm not getting anywhere with this...anyone have any ideas? I had a voyager 105 modem before this and it ran perfectly at its most - 1mb at the time.

Check wiring, plug it in to the test point on the master socket if you have one, some older sockets don't (its revealed by unscrewing the faceplate on the master socket)
Try another modem if you have one
