Is BT PPPoE?

Well, I am on the BT Up-to-8MB package, but am trying to optimise my computer to get the most out of the connection as possible, however apparently I also need to know whether my connection is PPPoE - and I have no idea - I'm using the BT Home Hub, wireless, also having my XBOX 360 connected to it, as well as a Nintendo DS.

If anyone could provide me with any information, or something to easily optimise everything (free) quickly and easily without much intervention, or even step-by-step instructions on how to get everything I can out of the connection, then I would be very grateful.

I think both will work but PPoA is supposed to be more reliable...

I think European ISPs are nearly all PPoA...

Try the test here

Then when the test has completed enter your values

service = (dsl)----->download speed = (your sync rate)----->operating system = (XP or whichever OS you are using)------->connection = (PPPoA) then recommend, to get some advice on what to optimize, then download this, and use the advised values.

It depends on the transmission media, you are correct that over here we use PPPoATM more often that PPPoEthernet.

Only the PPPoA setting should work as you are connecting to the WAN with ATM DSL not Ethernet.
