SKY - phishing for customers
Today a colleague at work who was a former NTL customer now a VM customer showed my a flyer addressed specifically to him from SKY. It's a deal for £15 to sign up with sky using that old chestnut "DON'T LOSE LOST".
Quite interesting that they have his name, which is of French/Portuguese decent and he comes from South Africa, spelt exactly correct even though his own bank often get his name mispelt. "Yeah, so what?" I hear you all cry in unison - well I went home at lunchtime and guess what? i had exactly the same flyer addressed to me!!!
Upon further discussion neither of us have ever been SKY customers at our current addresses (although I have been in the distant past) nor have we called for information about or to discuss SKY TV.
SOME QUESTIONS:
How have SKY gotten my details?
Why are they sending me unsolicited mail?
Isn't this against the law ?? - Well it should be !!
Yet again SKY are proving how good they are at diirty tricks campaigns and that no level is too low for them to stoop to. Sadly my colleague is very tempted by the enticements of SKYs alluring flyer £15 for all channels excluding movies and sports, FREE installation, FREE STB, FREE 2MB Broadband and FREE calls evenings and weekends is hard to beat. I could see that he's eyes were all misty and the snakes hypnotism methods had worked a charm on him.
I did argue VM's corner and say that you own the box and after a year if it breaks you have to pay £65 + vat for a refurb and told him that LOST would no doubt be found on E4 sooner or later anyhoo but he has bought into the shysters marketing and I feel we have lost another one of VM's customers - oh well.
I'm still here and VM is looking good to me - all they need to do is get hold of Channel U and I'll be proper happy
