Virgin Media gets my vote.
With so many people posting about how bad there services are and how bad their installation went i thought i would share my experiance with you (Please join in if you have something nice to say).
Engineer was booked for 9.30-13.00 today to install and second box and also install a V+ box.He arrived at 12-30 had a quick chat about where we wanted the second box and V+ installed he had a quick look around the rooms where it was to be installed and set about his work.
He was a very polite chap who even asked for a newspaper to collect the dust from drilling, with about 10 mins he had ran a cable up the side of my house (All clamped down nicely and secure)to the bedroom upstairs where i wanted the second baox installed.
He then worked inside the bedroom where the 2nd box was to be installed and i have to say on checking his work it was perfect no mess,no lose wires he had even replaced the furniture for us and stacked up the entertainment console for us.
Installing the V+ box down stairs he was just as swift and clean and all done from start to fiinish within a hour or so.He gave me a quick talk through the V+ box left me a HDMI cable for when i change to a HDtv.
My installation process 10/10.

Got to agree, I had an install exactly the same th other day, it does seem thatit really depends on the installer. It dos go to show that 'some' people do take a pride in the standard of work provided.

Re: Virgin Media gets my vote.
I will add he was sub contracted by a local firm, dont know how much of a difference that makes. He also took the time to fix some of the minor problems left from my previous installation by telewest a few years ago.(loose wires outside and internal box hanging off the wall).
The same company did the exact same install i had at my mums house on Monday not the same installer and she said the guy was lovely and did a great job

Re: Virgin Media gets my vote.
I had the same experience, he asked for a plastic bag to collect the dust, made sure that I understood exactly where he was going to be taking the wires. He even asked if he should bother attaching the wire to the wall behind the wardrobe (as the box was going in my room), I declined saying it was pointless, but leading up to the wardrobe the wire had been attached to the wall just below the radiator, I wouldn't have even noticed if he not told me as it's so tidy, very impressed! Well done VM.

Re: Virgin Media gets my vote.
I had the exact same experience as the op, very impressed
newspaper to catch the dust
good clean install looks fine from the outside
left the HDMI cable for future use
worked on the V+ box started the install
move the 2nd box then came back to finsh the V+ install
Offered to go through the manual but told him it was ok as I'd been here and read all about and looked at the manual online.

Tell you what, YOU do the research and prove me, and the other posters here wrong, and I'll get back to you in a years time, ok?
My V+ installation was as sweet as a nut, the guy was great, loved my tea, and stuck around for an extra 20 minutes waiting for my pckage to download.

Look - I think that VM provides a good service, but do we really need all these threads saying how brilliant VM, and Sky are?

Maybe we dont need them.
BUT as i read these forum daily and constantly read about peoples bad experiances with either services/support or installs i thought i would share my experiance of a good install.
I would add he also waited 15min while the box downloaded all the updates and i just got off the phone with someone from virgin who called to see if i was happy with my installation and services.

The best thing you could have done would have been tag it on to an existing thread though.
