Re: Scart connections??

From what I was told when it was fitted - the top scart on the V+ goes into the TV and the bottom scart goes to your video / DVD recorder. This was only confirmed when the engineer got the scarts mixed up and pressing home didn't bring a thing up on the TV ( I presume it doesn't output so not to spoil your archiving)

If your scart box is a multi in out then try checking some of the buttons on it - I have a 3 way cheap Argos job and you can change the outputs on the TV (Actual picture / recording picture etc) by changing the buttons around. This sounds confusing but the box has buttons for 'View' (A B C) or record (C-A / B-A)

Re: Scart connections??

How many scart connections does the TV have, and what exactly are you trying to connect up V+, TV, DVD, VCR and anything else?

No, because he won't be able to play VHS recordings back to his TV with that wiring.

Re: Scart connections??

Er, I think he will, Sir Robin.

The TV can view the VCR's RF output by tuning into it. Also, when the VCR goes into playback, the STB should go into switch-thru mode so the TV can see, thru its SCART, the output of the VCR and not the STB.

My only criticism of this arrangement is that most TVs only support RGB on AV1. The DVD player is connected to AV2 which commonly only supports composite video. If (big if) the STB and the VCR both work 'properly' then you should be able to plug the DVD player into the 'up' port on the VCR iinstead of AV2 on the TV. The RGB signal should get passed all the way thru the other two boxes to the TV. However, because of the number of devices and connections involved, you may not end up with a better picture!

Such a pity that SCART didn't get strangled at birth!
