BT Homehub help...

I'm having a few problems with my new BT Homehub.

I just changed from BT option 1 to option 3, so they delivered me a new Homehub to replace my existing modem. Now, from the modem I used to get 1mb...but since I installed the Homehub (connected to my pc via ethernet) all I'm getting is 0.2mb. This isn't changing every day I check the speed.

Anyone have any information? I'm fed up of calling BT - I feel like they're just lying to me. When I called them previously they advised I can get 2mb through my line but I have a bad feeling about this.

Re: BT Homehub help...

If you have it on an extension sometimes trying it on the master socket with the extensions disconnected (on most master sockets you can take the front faceplate off which will disconnect any extension wiring then expose a test socket you can plug into) if you get faster speed at this point its your extesion wiring.

Of course it could just be the Homehub although they are a nice idea and the features they offer are quite good (wireless, dect basestation, voip.etc) their build quality is somewhat lacking IMO.

you could either try and persuade BT your Homehub is faulty and get them to send you another one or you can use your own modem/router.

My homehub was DOA and since i don't like them anyway i use my own ADSL router with my broadband

Re: BT Homehub help...

Hmm could try that...I'll test in a master socket but it was originally perfect through it with the modem, so I'm assuming it's the hub.

Emailed BT, they advised to give it 10 days. They'll be getting some words if it's the same by the end, and I most probably will get my own router if no resolve.

It is a good idea, when it decides to work. Second PC won't even connect through the wireless on occasion.

I suppose time will tell for now.
