2nd set top box

Hello,

I finally decided to take the plunge and give Virgin Media's digital service a go. I decided I wanted TV XL, with 1 V+ box and 1 V box. From what I read, I gathered this would be £20 for XL, £150 service for V+ and either £5 or £9.50 a month for the second box (which seems to be different in different places so I was unsure, and apparently so were Virgin Media).

I rang them up, and the first person said it'd be £5 for the 2nd set top box. The second person said it'd be £10. I was happy paying £10 or £5, so said yes even though they were both unsure. Today, the contract arrived, and it on it says £15 for the second box per month? This is the first time I've seen having to pay £15p/m for a second box? When I go through the website, it's listed as being £9.50, not £15

The install is coming up on Thursday. Is this right £15 per month for the second box right? If not, is there anything I can do about it? Does the contract need to be signed before the installation or before I receive any of the service? The letter didn't make it clear, only said that it needs to returned.

Another slight worry, although I'm sure unfounded, is that the letter and details make it sound as if we are a new customer, when we've been with them for years. Presumably it's just standard, so that doesn't matter and the installer won't come round thinking it's a fresh install?

Thanks very much

Re: 2nd set top box

Your second box should be £5 a month, you need to ring them up to clarify it.

The contract does not need to be signed before they go ahead, but I wouldn't sign it anyway as they have the price of the second box wrong.

The letters are standard so don't worry that it makes you sound like a new customer.

Good luck for Thursday

Re: 2nd set top box

Thanks very much for the reply, greatly appreciated

I was under the impression it was £5 for the second box, but I know that was before the V+ was made a lump sum of £150 rather than the monthly £10 as the £5/m for keeping or adding a second box was a bonus. Is it still definitely £5 a month on the new pricing scheme? Just wanting to make sure

Thanks

Re: 2nd set top box

Ive recently been on the phone about a 2nd box and was informed by someone it was £9.50 a month for the 1st year then £15 a month there after. This agent seemed sure as I asked and he told me straight away!

Re: 2nd set top box

It's £5/month if you take V+, it's £9.50/month if you don't. It used to be £15/month under ntl.
