theft by ntl

Recently discovered that I have been overpaying ntl for a number of years. Asked for my money back. Eventually promised a cheque for about £900 and told it would be in the post within 28 days. It didn't arrive. Contacted ntl again yesterday and was told it would be dealt with and someone would ring me to confirm. Still heard nothing. I HAVE NO FAITH IN THESE PEOPLE.
CUSTOMER SREVICES - DON'T MAKE ME LAUGH. Found this site yesterday. Slightly less depressing to know I'm not alone.

Re: theft by ntl

i do think it is bad Customer service that the cheque wasnt recived in a timely manner, and you shouldnt have been overcharged in the first place, but do you not check your bills?
a few years of incorrect charging and £900 seems a lot to me

Re: theft by ntl

the problem stems from the fact that I swapped from dialup to broadband. Though I told ntl to disconnect - they didn't and I was still being charged. This didn't show on my bill and I never received a statement detailing the payment. Also I continued to pay for a second line. When I questioned this I was told it was the broadband connection. Not being a techie I accepted this until I found out otherwise. They have accredited my ntl account but I want my money back so that I can earn interest on my money.

Re: theft by ntl

It strikes me that had you owed a company £900 they would soon be on your back for the money, and they would want it sooner than 28 days?

They credited your account with the £900?

I'm told they have credited my account and offered half-price deals on phone and tv basic package for three months but I want my money back so I can earn interest on it.

Re: theft by ntl

Alot of companies will credit the account first before giving you your money back. This is of course they ensure that the money never leaves them, so they effectively don't give it back to you.

What dial-up package were you on originally?

Re: theft by ntl

The exact same thing happened to me. When I moved from Dial-up to Broadband, Ntl continued my Dial-up connection. Although I was being charged for this it took over a year before I became suspisious about this charge. I thought it was for my Broadband, but their billing system included my Broadband in another package (crafty blighters). Currently I am unsure as to the outcome, but Ntl have now decided to charge an addtional £5 fee for none Direct Debit payments.

Oih, Mr Branson, Sir Richard, get your finger out before you get burnt by us all leaving. Which Magazine here I come.

Good luck to all,
Guy Watson...a very, very, very, (p*ss*d 0ff) unhappy Ntl customer (for 10 years, bring back Cambridge Cable).

Re: theft by ntl

when you set up your BB for the first time it asks you to input your dial up account number to transfer the email adresses to your new account, and close the dial up account. if you dont then both accounts will stay active
