V+ Availibilty

Hi there

Given the current possiblilty that SKY 1,2 etc could be dropped, are people worried?

I am thinking about getting the V+ Personal Video Recorder box but am not sure its worth it if Sky channels are not available. I watch Sky 1 alot so its a bit of a show stopper for me. Is V+ worth getting still if there is no Sky and do not own a HD Television?

Also I live in SE12 area of London (Lewisham), is the V+ service available out here yet?

Thanks

Orion

Re: V+ Availibilty

to the forum!

Personally, I don't think Sky are going to lose 3 million customers from dropping Sky channels from Virgin Media.

The V+ is still worth it as your getting a PVR with a 160Gb hard disk, you can record 2 channels while watching another and you don't even have to pay for the box (Just the monthly subscription). Not sure if it's available in your area. Best thing to do is to ring CS and ask...

Re: V+ Availibilty

Hi there, and welcome to the forum.

There has been a lot of talk and debate over whether losing the Sky channels will matter to anyone - and there is a multi page thread devoted to it! As you can guess, it matters a lot to some people, and not a lot to some others. Personally, I wouldn't mind either way. As Nikesh said, there are other good reasons to get V+, including the 160gb hard drive and multi tuners.

I also think that the V+ box is available everywhere at the moment, although there are longer waits in some areas compared to others.

Thank for the welcoming messages!

and thanks for your thoughts!

I reckon I will wait a month or 2 for the service to settle down as there appears to be a long lead time for STB deliverys. Being a new services I am not surprised they are being snapped up!

Re: V+ Availibilty

Ordered V+ box and additional box last week, to be installed Sat b4 1pm. getting very excited, very much like xmas eve, sad I know, but I dont get out much.

Since ordering i have wobbled twice and nearly cancelled and gone for Sky hd box. But I cannot justify the £300 price tag, and I dont like sky much anyway.

Not bothered too much if Sky 1 and the other rubbish goes, but I am concerned about HD content as i have a rarther large lcd currently being under used.
