Monitor Help!!

Hi Guys,

wondering if you guys could help me out with a problem that has just come up with my monitor....

i moved my monitor about 12" across the desk, & swapped the plugs around a bit, just doing some generally tidying of my desktop, since then the colour on my monitor has gone to pot...

The monitor has gone almost lighter, & its not as sharp as it was, bad description i know, but its hard to describe, almost as if the sun is constantly shining on it, ( its not, shut the curtains ) so i have tried to auto set the monitor, when the message comes on the screen - auto setting - the picture is perfect, then as soon it goes off picture goes to back the poor one...

i have tried resetting the monitor to auto - No good
tried manually configuring the monitor - No good
System restore win XP & boot with last known good configuation - NO good
booted with VGA enabled to see if it would fix - no good
moved monitor & plugs back to as they were - no good

its usable, just really annoying....the monitor is a iiyama prolite e435s

Any help would be much apprecaited<sp> guys & girls to get this fixed...

TIA

Re: Monitor Help!!

erm, you haven't budged the graphics card slightly when fiddling with the cables, and dislodged it a bit have you? You seem to have checked all the things with the monitor that I would have suggested, but don't seem to have checked the graphics card itself.

Otherwise, I'd try the monitor with a different machine to determine if the problem is with the monitor or the signal it's receiving (ie, the 'puter itself).

Re: Monitor Help!!

Further to Gareths post, you have not bent a pin on any of your cabling?

Re: Monitor Help!!

thanks for quick responses guys,

i havent disconnected any of the cables to pc or monitor, & the pc hasnt moved ( i literally slid the monitor about 12" across the desk ) so i shouldnt have bodged the graphic card or pins, ive unscrewed the connection from both pc & monitor, checked as uve suggested & they all look all ok.

if i disconnect the monitor from the pc, then turn the monitor on, the no signal messsage on the monitor is crystal clear, same as when i ask the monitor to auto set up, it goes perfect then changes back,

Cant check different pc at mo.... im really at a lost as to why it has happened...

Re: Monitor Help!!

Is the monitor near anything magnetic like speakers or such?

Slide the monitor back where you had it originally if possible and if the problem goes away it's due to the monitor being too near a magnetic source or some electrical interference!

Re: Monitor Help!!

1) open the case & push the graphics card back into it's slot.
2) as above.
3) ensure all cabnles are plugged in right.
4) check the contrast control is not just turned up

Re: Monitor Help!!

Did you ever solve the problem with your Iiyama monitor? I have EXACTLY the same problem, which occured after a temporary unplugging of the monitor. It definately is a display problem - a spare flat screen monitor works OK and the Iiyama presents same problem on another computer. As you say when Auto set up is being done display is perfectly normal, but reverts to the washed out colours, too bright screen after about 5 seconds. I came across you problem on the web while trying to find a slution. Hope you can help
Thanks JC

If it does it on another pc it may well be worth if it is under warranty to take it back to the shop, make double sure there is no magnets near it ( as alot of pc's have speakers )

Oh and btw.

Re: Monitor Help!!

Thanks - it's only about 6 months old so a call to Iiyama will be made asap. But its annoying that there is probably nothing wrong with the monitor and is a almost certainly a set up problem but after several hours of trying just about every combination from the set up menu, and even reading the instruction book I'm calling it a day.

Thanks for your reply jc

Re: Monitor Help!!

mines there or there about back to normal now, honest answer, im not sure what fixed, the only thing that has been moved away from the monitor is the keyboard, but i cant see that being the cause of the issue...

Hope u get it sorted......& if you get a proper fix from iiyama, please post back & let me know
