Re: Windows live messenger problem
It's not often we see you post.
I suspect you're using an older version of WLM, so i think you should try downloading the latest version from http://get.live.com/messenger/overview but uninstall the other one first. The latest version is 8.0.0.812.00, you can check yours from the main WLM window by clicking Help/about messenger
Hope that fixes it.

Re: Windows live messenger problem
Was it ok with the older version?
I've purposely not updated until I find out if its running ok for other people. Could it just be teething problems with the updated version??

Re: Windows live messenger problem
I'm not sure what version of windows is needed for 'offline messages', but what do you have?

Mines actually greyed out too, but i think i can still send and receive offline messages. When someone has sent me one a box pops up to warn me on logging in. I think this was an option you had to set upon installing this.
See below.

Re: Windows live messenger problem
Well thanks for the input, Im on win xp, got the latest version of windows live and I know that the "offline messages" option shouldnt be greyed out........its obviously a glitch (one of many looking at the live messenger forums)!!! Oh well, I'll just have to live with it till they sort it out

Re: Windows live messenger problem
Hi All,
I have it working OK but I did have a short time where I had the same thing happening.I seem to remember that it was put right by giving permissions in the Firewall. There were four or five things that I had to give permission to. Sadly I can't remember what. I'll go through and if I find it I'll post it up.
Regards, George.

Re: Windows live messenger problem
Bumping this thread
I have a live messenger problem. I cant seem to add people to my list anymore.Well I can but they never actually appear. They have added me to theres and still no good.If I go to offline contacts there name is there I can om them and above the message window it says user is not added to your list. But there in my list and if I click add them now nothing happens. Ive tried uninstalling and reinstalling ive tried messenger 7 and the name come up and I got the allow window but when I uninstall that and reinstall WLM there gone again.Any ideas gratefully accepted
