Bush says Iraq is like Vietnam

Well, he is a gaffe-prone idiot. What's he's trying to say is that the *propaganda* about the 1968 Tet Offensive is similar to alleged propaganda about the various Iraq insurgencies and civil war, but the result of Tet (despite a clear US military victory) was a strategic victory for the Viet Minh, showing that despite what the US were saying to their public about the enemy being on their last legs, they weren't on their last legs at all. Not quite sure this is what Bush wants to say, 'hey, events in Iraq are just like the last time the US Administration lied to you about a guerilla war and the guerillas proved that the US military can't defeat them however large the body count'. Not sure he should be reminding people of that.

11 Americans dead in the last 24 hours, 70 this month. Bush blames it on the US media and the forthcoming elections. If only he could abolish both, eh?

There's this article in the Guardian today.

Do you think things are about to change out there? Also heard on the lunchtime news that Shia militia have taken over a town south of Baghdad, British troops are on standby.
