Telewest Box has Ethernet what for..?

Hi I've got digital box with Tv drive and I've found a Ethernet socket, that mean I can connect digi box to Internet, but I have no idea what for?

If you don't know what it's for then don't worry about it. It's used on some platforms for access to the Internet via the built in Cable Modem but that's mostly by ex-C&W NTL areas.

Really, it's actually used? I thought it was something that TW never got around to doing anything with, much like their remotes "text" feature

I am ex C&W and I get my BB through my STB, I used to use Ethernet before going wireless

sure , its like zeph said, infact if NTL made it easy for cable modem users to get a reasonably discounted second broadband, then that STB CM could serve that CM purpose and make NTL more cash for no more outlay.

you can keep your standard def STB for a second tv, at what is it a £5/£10, when you move over to the tvdrive, so a good discount on the STB CM if your using a stand alone CM could get quite a few homes paying it, one for you, the other for your kids machines for instance.

It's not really used, it can be used for the BBI wireless kits. Not supported anymore.
