Eudora is dead..

Not quite, but it has been sold.

Most of you probably have no idea what I am on about, but Eudora was an excellent email client and had a filtering system that was (IMO) one of the best I have ever used.

It seems, however, that Qualcomm have sold it, and the new owners are looking to re-write it based on the Thunderbird code. My understanding is that it will effectively become a commercial version of Thunderbird.

Hopefully, this will introduce some fresh development ideas to Thunderbird (not that Thunderbird is bad - I like it), and us Thunderbird users will slowly start to reap some rewards for having paid development time allocated to the project.

http://www.eudora.com/ ?, i never really used Eudora as at the time it seemed under powered, but then for me coming from the amiga THOR (now thats a POWERFUL app, shame they never ported it to windows) anything did at the time http://www.thule.no/thor/ .

but i think Eudora might have good options if they do it right, never really cared for any of the windows clients, perhaps ill find another THOR one day.

Re: Eudora is dead..

I used Eudora for quite a while a few years back, and it was pretty good. Good features/filters as you say and generally a sturdy app.

Using Thunderbird these days which I reckon is brilliant, so its a good combination. Its good to know that their new app will remain open source.

Re: Eudora is dead..

I used version 4 for a bit a long while ago, but I found it overly complicated. Later versions were even more bloated. The e-mail client in Agent is fine for the small amount of e-mail I generate.
