Angry Remote control OR NOT.

3 days after my new installation my remote control started to be ignored occasionally by the STB. Iit was a bit of a nuisance at first but got worse over the next few days. I disconnected the power supply and rebooted the STB and things seemed OK for a couple of days but them went **** up again. Over the next 5 days I rebooted every day but the thing has continued to get worse and now the thing swithces to 'channel 0' or the 'guide' on its own and 50 or more presses on the r/c might get you back or its a hands and knees job at the box panel (which by the way works every time you press the ch up & down buttons).

Customer services advice try new batteries in the R/C despite being told the thing is only a fortnight old, and that the r/c is spot on every time controlling the tv vol. Then wait to see if it settles down.In the room I have a DECT phone base unit 15 feet away from the TV, a brass uplighter with a dimmer swith 12 feet away from the TV. and a 4 gang house light dimmer system 20 feet away (always off).

I GUESS THE KIT IS JUST CRAP.

Re: Remote control OR NOT.

Is this a samsung stb?

If so i asked cs to refresh my stb and this stopped the box from changing channels on its own, It started after the the upgrade they sent out.
The box still ignores the remote occasionaly though

Re: Remote control OR NOT.

Their tv equiptment is just plain and simpley a load of crap!

Always goes faulty...

Even the samsungs ain't much good since the latest update, picture jumps a lot now and remote is always freeeeezing and having to reboot all the time. hardware wise the samsung is the best they do well it would be I guess it's the only other brand they do apart from pace and pace's rep went down when they went from digital to analouge!

Re: Remote control OR NOT.

Since my latest update 2 weeeks ago on my pace box i have had the problem where i flick through the channels after a while the box stops responding and i have to wait a couple of mins. before it works again , If i press the remote button 4 times after it stops responding then the channel will jump 4 channels when it starts working again.

Smile Re: Remote control OR NOT.

The engineer chappie came this morning to look at the problem of 'lazy' remote.

He tested the input signal strength from the cable on a meter and said he was looking for around +6 on the analogue and -6 on the digital with a difference between the 2 signals of between 9 and 12. He registered +1 on the digital so put a little box in the line to reduce the strength.

After a couple of hours of regular testing the problem seems to have been CURED.
