Phone lock Help Please!
 Hi All!
Just got off of the `phone to CS about putting a block on the telephone ,
I was told that to Lock it i had to put *806# which did block it.
I was told to `Unblock` it i had to put *80 pin number and then dial the number that i wanted to call, However this does not work and i can`t get through to Faults as i was advised
Can anyone here please give me some help or advice as my wife`s going off her head about it and i can`t get it sorted!
I`m in Cambridge in the cb1 area if thats any help.
Greenies to all that help!
Thanks.

Re: Phone lock Help Please!
May I suggest you try #806*pin# to unblock. As this is more along the lines of what I was given for call barring.

Re: Phone lock Help Please!
From the ntl User Guide for Cambridge:
Quote:
To override Call Barring press . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .* 80
You will hear a fluctuating dialling tone
Enter your 4 digit PIN
Dial the number you require
When you hang up Call Barring will automatically be restored
|
Are you getting the fluctuating dial tone after dialling *80?

Re: Phone lock Help Please!
This is gonna sound like a daft question.....
You are using the right PIN aren't you?
Did NTL set it up for you or did you choose it when you first activated it on the phone?
If NTL set it up when you called them then it's possible that it might take a while to kick in, it's also possible that someone at their end put the wrong PIN in and that's why it's not working....

Hmmmm.....not sounding good then.
Sounds like you're doing things the way they should be done, using the right PIN.
The only thing left, as you say, is to wait and see if it works after 48 hours.....

Re: Phone lock Help Please!
Just be careful. If call blocking blocks all calls without a PIN then you are fine. If 150, 100 and 118xxx calls can be made then beware !
You can call 118-118 and ask to be connected to a number. They tap it in and then connect you ! Its designed for Business that cannot connect to mobile and need to, but some kids and students have discovered it and use it to get round line blocking
