Stupid Question!?!
Hello
As you are about to be able to tell I'm a complete novice, so any help would be appreciated, thanks.
Q. How do I get my webpage to come up instead of the index page (on NTL)?

If you are using Internet Explorer once you have browsed to the site you want from the IE menu, select Tools > Options. Under Homepage select "use current".
I'm assuming you have created and uploaded the web pages you want to set as your homepage.

Re: Stupid Question!?!
Hi Indigo,
 to Cable Forum.
I'm afraid I'm not 100% sure what you mean exactly, but if you're trying to use your ntl webspace, you need to call your main file (the first page you want visitors to see) "index.htm" - without the quotes. Upload it to your webspace using an ftp client, and it should appear at http://homepage.ntlworld.com/username - where username is the first half of your ntlworld.com email address.
You can get more information and help on your ntl webspace at the ntlworld website: http://bbplus.ntlworld.com/data-feed...ites/webspace/
Hope this helps!

Re: Stupid Question!?!
Everyone's so friendly around here it's amazing!!
On other sites I'm used to getting blanked by most people and abused by the rest. It's nice to see that you lot are a bit different.

Seeing as how your problem is solved there's not a lot I can add to this thread, other than to add to the that you've already received

I think that's going to be a long and slow process!! I'm trying to learn Dreamweaver from scratch using the tutorials and trial and error. If anyone knows where I can get a good idiot's guide to using it then give me a shout please.

why dreamweaver?
why not learn HTML DHTML CSS JavaScript so that you can code any problems that arise.
using dreamweaver may give you some pitfalls along the way, and if you cannot code it, you may be stuck.

Laziness mainly.
Thought I'd learn DW first so I could do something quickly (relatively speaking) and then learn HTML. I also thought using DW might help me learn HTML, I have it on the split screen thing where you can see the code as well.

As much as I rate DW as the best editor on the market (imho), it can be very daunting to new-comers to get to grips with.
If you're really just starting out on the road to learning HTML, DHTML, CSS, Javascript, etc... then I would recommend you start with something like Frontpage. Frontpage won't help you build a stunningly brilliant website, but it's so easy to use cause you just point and click (in typical MS fashion), and can then see what the underlying HTML is.
I'd have thought it'd be easier to use that to begin with, and then progress to DW once you've got the basics under your belt.
Just a thought, and you're free to ignore it completely, but if you find yourself feeling like you're banging your head against a wall, then you might like to consider it
